Back. With receipts.
Decoded is back. Here's what's coming.
I went quiet. Here’s why and what’s coming. Let me be honest with you.
I didn’t ghost this Substack because I ran out of things to say. I ghosted it because I was deep in the weeds of building and writing felt like a luxury I couldn’t afford.
In the last several months:
I’m in the process of acquiring a practice in New Jersey. I launched a live surgery CE course that’s now running across North America, with dates coming up in the UK and Dubai. I’ve been building Floxient, a browser-based implant planning platform, from scratch. And I’ve been quietly building STABLE Academy Pro, a clinical education platform built around the same protocol I teach in my courses.
All of that is real. None of it is an excuse.
Because here’s the thing. Everything I was building needed a voice. And this is it. So I’m back. With a plan this time. LOL
What’s coming and why it matters
This Substack was never supposed to be another dental newsletter with stock photos of composites and vague advice about “treatment planning with purpose.”
It’s supposed to be the conversation that happens after the lecture. The real one. Where someone finally says what the textbook won’t.
That’s still the mission. But now I have more to say because I’ve been in the trenches building the tools I wished existed when I was a resident.
Here’s what I’m writing about over the next few months:
Immediate implants. The buccal plate biology nobody explains clearly. Why soft tissue follows bone. Why the dual zone graft isn’t optional. What actually happens when you get it wrong.
Provisionalisation thresholds. The 30/35 Ncm debate. What I do in the grey zone. What I’ve seen fail.
Socket classification. Ellis A, B, C. Why most clinicians ignore it chairside and why that’s a mistake. How it drives every decision after extraction.
Full arch reality. What the marketing doesn’t tell you about immediate loading. Who it’s right for. Who it isn’t.
Occlusion without the philosophy. CR, VDO, bruxism. Practical. Chairside. No articulator theology. (you know how I feel about this)
The irradiated patient. Implants after radiation. What dosimetry actually tells you. Why this matters more than most people realise.
And eventually, the tools I’m building and why I built them.
If you’ve been here since the beginning, thank you.
If you just found this, welcome. Start with the occlusion post. It’ll tell you everything about how I think.
If you’re a paid subscriber, you’re about to get your money’s worth. I promise.
One post every two weeks. No fluff. No stock photos of perfect smiles.
Just clinical reality, decoded.
And yes, I still owe you a coffee recommendation. That’s coming too.
